  HARD DRIVES

TMD can recover data, in most cases, from Hard Drives of any type interface or brand name.  There are two major categories of hard disk failures:
  • Software failures are commonly caused by a corrupted partition table, damages master boot record, damages or missing  system files, formatted drive or a missing root directory. Recovering data from software disk failures is generally the most successful type of data recovery that TMD performs. TMD  ONLY offers service for data recovery from a hard disk that has apparently malfunctioned because of a SOFTWARE problem.

  • Hardware failure or malfunction is the second category and is most likely caused as the result of the hard disk being physically damaged in some way, this data recovery becomes extremely complicated and costly. TMD DOES NOT offer a service for the recovery of data from a HARDWARE problem or physically damaged hard disk. A recovery service who specializes in replacing and repairing the internal parts of a hard disk, and who utilizes special "clean rooms" must be consulted if your media is physically malfunctioning. TMD can refer you to reputable firms that specialize in physical level data recovery, if requested. A tell tale sign of a hard disk that has stopped working because of an internal HARDWARE problem is noise coming from the disk. Clicking, grinding, burning odors, and excessive spinning sounds are most likely the result of internal damage to the heads, platters, or drive motor.

FLASH CARD MEMORY & DIGITAL PHOTO CARDS

TMD can recover lost, deleted and formatted digital photo removable media, any camera manufacturer or any type of Flash/Photo card. TMD can also,  in most cases, retrieve photos from unreadable cards and damaged cards, card error problem or corrupted card. Digital camera card problems fall into three main areas:

  • Lost Photos- Accidental deletion by user;reformatted card by mistake;Removing card prematurely before writing photos;file system corruption;boot sector problem;loss of power. The good news is that in a majority of cases phot recovery by TMD is possible.

  • Deleted Photos- If you have accidentally deleted photos, TMD recommends NOT to take any more pictures with the card, to prevent possible overwriting of the photos. In most cases, recovery by TMD is also possible.

  • Reformatted Card- In a majority of cases TMD can recover lost photos after an accidental or intentional format of the card.  The exception to this would be if your camera performs a "Destructive Format" which is they overwrite all locations of the card making recovery impossible. FUJI, SONY and OLYMPUS cameras typically use this format method. However, should you want TMD to perform an attempt at recovery to determine if a destructive format occurred, you will incur NO SERVICE CHARGE should TMD be unable to recover any data. (excludes return shipping charge)

To learn more about recovery from digital photo cards please see our  FAQ'S DATA RECOVERY section. For information about how to ship your photo card to TMD, please see our SHIPPING section. Please DO NOT ship any digital media or photo card to TMD without obtaining a case number.

CD & DVD DIGITAL MEDIA

TMD can recover lost or deleted data from CD or DVD discs. In many cases, recovery is possible as long as the disc has not been physically damaged. CD-R and DVD-R are media that have what is called "sessions" . There can be many sessions of a disk, its purpose is that you can continue to add data to a CD-R or DVD-R more than once. A new session is made each time data is burned to a disc.
