BIOGRAPHY

TMD Computer Forensics & Data Recovery was founded by Mr. Mark Competello. Mr. Competello received his initial computer forensics training at a Certified Computer Examiner Boot Camp (CCE) ®  taught by Mr. John Mellon, of Key Computer Service Inc ®. Mr. Mellon is an internationally renowned computer forensics expert, with over 20 years experience in computer forensics and serves on the Board of Directors of The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE). Additionally, Mr. Competello has received training from Access Data® , including certification from the AccessData Boot Camp which provides the knowledge and training to configure and use Access Data's Forensic Toolkit (FTK), Registry Viewer (RV), and Password Recovery Toolkit (PRTK) in forensic digital examinations. AccessData has been the choice of leading law enforcement agencies and those in the corporate industry since its inception in 1987 and is a  pioneer in the digital forensics industry.

Mr. Competello has served neary 25 years in law enforcement, and has attained the rank of Police Lieutenant and Commander of Criminal Investigations in a busy Northern New Jersey law enforcement agency. Mr. Competello has been assigned to numerous line, staff, investigative, and special service divisions throughout his law enforcement career. Mr. Competello has held the title of "Evidence Custodian" and has also been credited with assisting with the complete computerization of the property and evidence system and various digitilization of criminal investigation evidence.Mark Competello is also a part-time member of the FBI Cyber-Crimes Task Force (CCTF) Newark, NJ Division. Mr. Competello has received several public safety awards and citations, including recognition for participation in the recovery efforts following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. He has also completed numerous Law Enforcement, Public Safety, Fraud Prevention, Police Management, Homeland Security (DHS), and FEMA training courses.

Mr. Competello has also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Caldwell College, a Masters degree in Administrative Science from Farleigh Dickinson University (FDU) and is pursuing a degree in Security Management from the American Military University (AMU). Mr. Competello has also earned the professional board designations of Certified in Homeland Security (CHS) from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute (ACFEI) and Certified Public Manager (CPM) from the State of New Jersey/Department of Personnel in conjunction with FDU. Mr. Competello has also earned  graduate certificates in Computer Security and Forensic Administration, Administrative Science, Emergency Management and Administration, Global Security and Terrorism Studies. Global Technology Administration and Forensic Training on Handheld Computing Devices all from Farleigh Dickinson University.

Mr. Competello was an Adjunct Professor at Caldwell College instructing in the courses of Computer Science and Computer Forensics. Mr. Competello is credited in assisting Caldwell College in the implementation and development of curriculum for their new certificate program of Computer Forensic Administration. Mr. Competello is also an Adjunct Professor at Farleigh Dickinson University instructing in the Private Security and Loss Prevention certificate program.

Moreover, Mr. Competello has earned the professional designation of Certified Forensic Consultant (CFC) from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute (ACFEI). The (CFC) designation contributes to the weight of courtroom testimony relating to qualifications, specialized knowledge, scope of the issues, and validity of the presented evidence. This expertise assists courts in recognizing a (CFC) as an expert witness, in accordance with both the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and the Federal Rules of Evidence (FRE). The (CFC) designation signifies competent and knowledgeable forensic consulting skills in the unique environment of the American judicial system. Mr. Competello's area of expertise include all digital forensics, electronic discovery, data recovery and data deletion.

Mr. Competello has also earned the professional board designation of Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) ®   which is issued by The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (IFSCE)IFSCE awards the (CCE) designation to professionals who have demonstrated knowledge that furthers the field and science of computer forensics, provides a fair and uncompromising process for certifying the competency of forensic computer examiners, sets high forensic and ethical standards for forensic computer examiners, provides a universally recognized, unblemished certification that is available to all who can qualify, and conducts research and development into new and emerging technologies and methods in the field and science of computer forensics. (CCE's) must abide by a stringent Code of Ethics and Responsibility.  The ISFCE and all CCE certificants have the responsibility to maintain the (CCE) certification to the highest ethical standards and demonstrating integrity, impartiality, diligence & professionalism in performance.

Additionally,Mr. Competello has also earned the professional board designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP)  awarded by The American Society of Industrial Security® (ASIS), in which he also is an active member in good standing.  The (CPP) designation is recognized world-wide as the highest recognition of security professionals. The credential is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated expertise in eight (8) key areas of security; Physical Security, Security Principles and Practices, Investigations, Business Principles and Practices, Personnel Security, Emergency Practices, Information Security,  and Legal Aspects.  The (CPP) provides independent confirmation of a practitioner's ability to assume leadership responsibilities and address broad security concerns in the public and private sectors. Mr. Competello is also active with ASIS and serves as a member on the International Law Enforcement Liaison Council, which provides for the specific needs of members engaged in law enforcement and promotes understanding and cooperation between private security and public law enforcement.
